Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber

People become popular after showing their talents or skills to the other people around the world. It can be either in singing, giving a speech, dancing and others. Now, one of the person who earned his fame in an early age is Justin Bieber. People all around the world listen to his songs and are crazy for him. People love him for his songs, his appearance and his hairstyle. This picture clearly portrays the popularity of Justin Bieber. This can be distinguished by looking at the people behind him as they are taking photos of Justin Bieber and shouting out his name. This indicates that he’s worshipped and loved by many people because of his songs and his relationship status. Some people might call this Justin Fever. His debut album which was “One Time” was selected for top ten in Canada after its release. He was the first one to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100. He became more popular when people began to watch his videos on Youtube whether people were mocking at him or admiring him for his cool outfit or his hairstyle. One of his songs known as “Baby” was ranked as most viewed, most discussed and most liked on Youtube. To expand his popularity and status, he also made a movie in 3D known as “Never Say Never” which had the biggest opening weekend for a concert film.

Lindsay Lohan

Many celebrities are popular but at the same time they each have flaws whether if it’s their appearance, their beauty, or their personal life. One of the celebrities who is popular but have a bad reputation is Lindsay Lohan. She’s popular for her roles in different movies such as “Freaky Friday”, “Parent Trap” and “Mean Girls”. From 2006 to 2007, Lohan became more popular for her involvement with drugs and in the state of being drunk while driving a car. On July 6th, 2010, Lohan was sentenced to jail for 90 days because she had violated the terms of her probation of not coming to DUI hearing which was scheduled on May. This picture illustrates that she’s on drugs which can be distinguished by the mumbling from her mouth and the closing of her eyes which indicates that she had no sense during that time. This also shows that she’s not perfect completely which contrast to Justin Bieber’s status.

Ghandhi

This is a picture of Ghandhi which represents perfection in popularity. He wasn’t famous for his talents or his skills. He didn’t wear any chains or hoodies to become popular. He was a simple man who spread wise words around the world to influence others to become better human beings. He was well known for his good cause such as expanding human rights, diminishing poverty and uniting different religious sects in India. He helped people not because he had to. He helped them because he wanted to. His influence on people and his wise words made him popular around the whole world which is perfect.

Perfection: Success

10 Mar

From expanding a family business into a real-estate organization (the Trump Organization), running an NBC TV show and writing bestselling books, Donald Trump embodies the typical qualities of success and has become an icon for it, as the media does well to portray. He has even been rumored as being a future candidate for President of the United States.

It is quite likely that anywhere you go, you will find yourself in an area or come across a building associated with the man, or with one of his organizations. In other words, he is extravagant, and wears his success and wealth on his sleeve, despite not being as wealthy as someone like Bill Gates. The picture below does well to show his power and influence, especially in the business world. He has a confident, no-nonsense look on his face, and is ironically making a hand gesture resembling the one used by Mussolini and Hitler- again, a symbol of power perhaps. He is also wearing a suit, and is always very polished and business-like.

Bill Gates is considered one of the world’s richest people, and through founding Microsoft, has become an icon for success, particularly in the business world.  Gates achieved success in his career after a few failures, and success was not something that simply came to him, but rather, he worked hard for it, as working hard and applying your knowledge is what he strongly believes in. His story is similar to many other successful people, as his academic achievement was so great, that he grew bored of school and later became an enrolled student at Harvard University.

After a year of experimenting with computers and struggling over his interests and passions, Gates dropped out of Harvard and later developed Microsoft, all because he had a “vision”, which became his reality (kind of like the Pygmalion Effect). Thus, Bill Gates was not successful by luck, but rather through hard work and intelligence.  While Gates may not be a direct representative of “perfection” in media, nor even in person, he does represent success and wealth, which is what many these days associated with perfection, particularly those of a business mind.

Unlike Donald Trump, who’s climb to success was based on a divergent vision, Gates’ path became much more convergent over time. Also, notice the difference in appearance between the two pictures. Trump’s formal attire is in stark contrast to Gates’ casual, comfortable one, despite the fact that Gates is much wealthier. If you were to hold up both of these pictures, people are more likely to associate Trump with “success” than Gates. Perhaps, Gates’ attire is emphasizing his stereotype, be it subconsciously or consciously. Also, Gates does not showcase his wealth as Trump does, and appears to have a more selfless attitude, as seen by his philanthropic actions. He has even claimed that he will donate a lot o his money once he retires. In terms of the bigger picture, this means that there is more than one path to success and that everyone has different interpretations of it.

Perfection And Flaw: Feminine Beauty

9 Mar

1.The woman shown in this picture, Audrey Hepburn represents perfection in feminine beauty. What makes her perfect, is her elegance and most importantly her charm. Her charm consists in her insecurities that made her seem perfect. Her natural beauty, and the ultra feminine ways of acting and presenting herself in public made her the ultimate icon of beauty and perfection. Her perfection lays in her natural, charming, sophisticated and womanly wise character; her beauty is as if radiated from inside. As an actress, the roles she played were always of innocent, sophisticated young women. And even if she played a so called “call girl” in one of her movies, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, her elegance and girlish charm made her restless and short tempered character transform itself into a kind hearted innocent young woman in the eyes of the audience.

2. The opposite of feminine beauty in terms of perfection is illustrated in this picture. She is the complete opposite of Audrey Hepburn as she does not possess her qualities. First major difference is her fake looks. Her wish to be “perfect”, only made her seem so unperfect and unattractive. She does not possess that elegance and feminine side that Hepburn posseses. This makes her look more masculine and not pleasant to look at.

3. This image of a fawn represents beauty in a different context. Even though it is not of a human, this fawn shows its gentle and innocent and natural self. This is what makes it beautiful and pleasant to look at. Just as feminine beauty, Audrey Hepburn, it’s gentleness and innocence makes it perfect.
