What is Social Drama?

Social drama attempts to deal with the disharmony of a social process that occurs in situations of conflict. In can be seen as a disruption of normal social life, with its interactions, customs and orderly behaviour. (Turner, 1974). This usually occurs in the following steps;
  1. A breech of social norms and relations in which two different groups are formed.
  2. A crisis, in which there is a tendency for people to breech social order and to widen the gap between the two groups.
  3. Redressive action in which action is taken to resolve the breech of social order
  4. Reintegration of the social group, or a realization that the gap between the two groups is irreparable.
